Promenade were invited to perform in this exquisite setting. A little church, perched on top of a hill covered in olive trees in the Pyrenees not far from Perpignan formed the backdrop for a memorable evening, starting in the daylight and ending in the dark.

Accompanying is risky business! Outdoor concerts in particular hold many perils - the slightest breeze can turn a page or blow a loose sheet away. On this occasion, as dusk fell, our accompanist Clare Toomer gradually found she could not see the keyboard. It had not been possible to set the lights after dark. By the end of the first half she could not even see her hands!
