Liz Crolley worked at the Sir Norman Chester Centre for Football Research in Leicester before joining the Department of Languages at the Manchester Metropolitan University in 1991. She is currently working at the University of Liverpool in the Business School's Football Industry Group. Her research examines the social, historical and political aspects of football culture and football and gender as well as the sport's structures and organisation especially in Spain, Italy and Argentina. She has published extensively in these areas including the co-authored book Football, Nationality and the State published by Addison Wesley Longman in 1996. She has produced a series on football for the BBC World Service and has acted as interpreter for Liverpool Football Club on its European campaigns.
